Richie's sophisticated kid bath

We are  slowly but surely  tackling the home improvement projects around the Wise Nest.  We were extremely excited to replace the last toilet in our house;). This may seem like a small feet; however we  were elated the day we had brand new toilets throughout our home:).  While we still have to give the master bath a complete overhaul, we tackled Richie's bath this fall and are so proud of the results. We wanted something that could transition with him through teenage years, but we wanted a stylish and fun space as well. We started with the black and white hex, and a very patient tile installer. We then added the Calacatta Borghini  slabs, a subway backsplash and I painted the cabinets a custom mix of Annie Sloan chalk paint. I added a beadboard wainscot to coordinate with other areas of our home, and painted it a clean gloss white. I desperately wanted to paint the walls  Kelly green, but 8000 paint chips later the horror on Rich's face was apparent. I finally decided to go with the safe choice of dark grey! The last small task was replacing the lights, oh those dam lights!! It ended up being by no means  small and  one electrician and one general contractor later, we finally completed our subway-style kid's bath. It is my absolute favorite space in our home. It describes our family perfectly. It is practical, traditional and clean, yet whimsical, witty and  fun.

Here are some before shots:

And some during…:

and….the afters!

So, there it is!! We love it, hope you do too!
