Backyard BBQ

Summer is upon us....

School is out, the pool is warming up and we are starting to get a lot of use out of our grill! The Memorial Day weekend has brought us much needed rest, relaxation and plenty of time to concoct a delicious meal for our friends and family.


Tonight we have four racks of ribs waiting to be grilled to perfection tomorrow and we can't wait to dig in. I cooked some shortcakes tonight which always brings me back to my childhood, and topped them with fresh strawberries and home-made vanilla bean whipping cream. We picked up all sorts of beautiful fruits and veggies at the Farmer's Market today and I spent the day washing and chopping to get ready to feast:).

In the mean time I put together a little BBQ table to welcome our guests and get us ready for Summer...

Mother's Day Brunch

We have had a busy spring. We are in the never ending process of remodeling, busy with work, parties and the end of kindergarten.  Sometimes I forget to just take some time to relax and enjoy my very blessed life.

Yesterday we took some time to celebrate with the moms in our lives, and I felt especially loved by my main men, who spoiled me as they always do....

We had a simple Mother's Day brunch at The Wise Nest, here are some of the pics of what we did:)....

I truly enjoy preparing for these events with my cute hubby, and if I do say so myself, we make a pretty great party-throwing team:). We love having a nest large enough to accommodate all of the festivities, that is at least until its time for cleanup!

House Warming Party

Last weekend we had a much overdue housewarming party, and although our nest is far from complete we decided it was time to let people see what the heck we have been working on for months and months:). Welcome Home

Roughly 7 months ago my husband, son and I moved into our new nest. We have spent most waking hours painting, scraping wallpaper, hanging molding and light fixtures and making it our very own. This house holds memories for us. We were married in this house two sweet years ago, and then decided to purchase it from my husband's mom when she realized she was ready to downsize. Our son has celebrated every birthday in this house, we have spent every Christmas as a couple in this house, and we have begun to create our own memories here. I have a small obsession with interior design and hope this blog will reflect that.I would like to say the house is almost complete, but I know that will never be true. Follow me as I decorate and re-decorate, and re-decorate again:)...
